29 January 2016
by Peter Blazicek

Our first touches with the city. I noticed that there were significantly less cyclists and cycling trails...
Well, i don’t like the comparisons such as „this capital is nicer than the other one because of..“ Instead, i focused on the city life, atmospehere, sights..

We started with Vasa museum. Spectacular. Here’s the story:
1628. Vasa ship sails from Stockholm on her maiden voyage. It is short. The ship sinks after just 1500 metres.

333 years rests at the bottom of the Baltick see in mud and.
Thanks to low salinity of the water which does not support shipworms - wreck is in great conditions and in 1960‘ they started doing preparations and later the wreck was salvaged. Almost 98% of the boat is original.
It offeres a unique insight into 17th century Sweden history.
Lunch break in museum and trying the tasty meatballs.
Visit of Gamla Stan / Old town –in 1600’s that part was Stockholm city. Medieval narrow streets, Royal palace.. We visited Alfred Nobel museum, it is a smaller one, but interesting and informative. Lots of information about his idea – the Nobel Prize, which was already from the start a world event. No other prize spanned over so many subjects and nationalities. According to his will – physics, chemistry, physiology, medicine, literature and peace would each year recieve part of the revenues of his fortune.
