Day 10, Scandinavian Extreme Winter Expedition

Today, a start with a City Hall guided tour. Brilliant. Everything, the building from out/inside.
I completely enjoyed a great tour guide and a magnificient interiors such as the Blue Hall. We were told about exact procedure of Nobel prize awards (it is happening here on December 10 as A.Nobel died on this date). Also, we could see the council chamber. It is one of the landmarks and definitely a symbol of the city.
We moved to Open-air museum called here Skansen. As it was a winter (low) season, most of the exhibitions were closed. But, it was worth to come and see the traditional houses from all over Sweden. We met few guides wearing traditional costumes and they told us about the past.

There was a cosy cafe from the Old days, so we made a use o fit and enjoyed the atmosphere.
Then, we returned to Gamla Stan (Old town) to visit the Royal palace. Royal apartments, Guests apartments, treasury.. Went through everything. Knew more about the first modern Swedish king Gustav Vasa (16th century).

It’s dinner time and we are pretty much hungry. I got great tips from one hotel nearby.
We visited a restaurant in Gamla Stan / Old town: Den Gyldene Freden, one of the oldest restaurant in Stockholm.
And tried some traditional starters and fried salmon. Terrific. Well, so was the bill ;). Sweden is definitely not the cheap destination.

 starter

Starter..home-made sausage, different hams and sauces. Delicious.

salmonSalmon, vegetable and caviar. Also #1.

Then, we walked a bit in the Old town, finally looked for a sign „T“, an entrance to metro.
Most of the subway stations have been decorated with sculptures, mosaics, paintings.. Special, like traveling through some exciting story..
