Today, as we are back to Copenhagen, we have decided to go on with the sights. We started with Rosenborg castle – built by one of the most famous Scandinavian kings – Christian IV, in the early 17th cent...We went through 3 floors, the top floor – the Knight’s Hall – contains coronation thrones and 3 life-size silver lions as guards. Tapestries on the walls commemorate the battles between Denmark and Sweden.
Also worth to go through the treasury.Outside we met the Royal Life Guard returning from Amalienborg palace.
Now, we know their daily route – they start in Rosenborg at 11:30 and march down the street (all cars slowly drives behind..) around the Marble church up to Amalienborg. (I’ve already mentioned this palace).
Then, we visited Copenhagen Cathedral known as Church of our lady.
Original one was destroyed in 1807, the present shape is in neo-classicist style where the foundation stone was laid by King Frederik VI in 1817.
Move to National museum. The very high quality of exhibition is guaranteed also due to queen Margrethe II assistence, as she is passionately interested in the history and archeology. Queen’s voice guide visitors through the exhibition.
We started in stone age..., went through bronze, iron age..Vikings.. Danish kings.. Tons of information, i finished earlier and prefered a coffee break ;). My client was up to the last minute ;). Not to forget to mention – the museum offers a free entrance.
Walking down the Stroget, buying some postcards and heading to a typical Danish restaurant where we tried a menu for 2 persons consisting of 2 types of fish, lots of sauces, chicken, pork, lots of vegetable. Tasty, but not as a everyday diner ;). Last overnight and tomorrow >> Sweden.
